Rama and Krishna

Shri Rama.  The name is awe-inspiring.  He is a historical icon, considered an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.  Shri Krishna, the supreme Godhead.  He is also known as Yogesvara—the supreme master of Yoga (this is evident from the Gita). He has been the earliest proponent of Yoga.

Real life conditions, unfolding life events, turns and twists in the lives of Shri Rama and Shri Krishna tell us a lot learn from. In the present effort, we shall focus only one common and practical aspect of both of these icons.

Both of them were well-equipped with large number of sophisticated arms and they had gained mastery in various techniques of war, battle and fight at their early age.  They were very good in wrestling etc.  They were quite good in using a large number of arms and weapons.  Some scholars opine that extremely destructive weapons similar to atom bomb of present time, was known to them. This kind of opinion is based on the various descriptions of war available in the Ramayana and Mahabharat. (For example, what to speak of Shri Rama, even his brother Lakshmana has Pashupatastra in his possession. Pashupatastra was originally owned by Lord Shiva.  This makes one of many Divyastras. This weapon was a tool of mass destruction.  So, it may be compared with atom bomb of today’s time.

This is to drive home the point that they had a practical approach.  Lofty moral and ethical ideology does not come handy when once faces incorrigible people of the type of Duryodhana and Ravana.

We certainly are not as smart as Shri Rama and Shri Krishna.  Yet they did not leave any scope for negotiation and dialogue to resolve the critical issues deliberately created by Duryodhana and Ravana.  They knew well that soft approaches in such cases won’t yield any favorable outcome.  They were left with only one option: just wipe out the criminals.  It would be futile and even foolish to correct the incorrigible.

It sounds good only in a lecture hall when one gives sermons such as ‘hate the sin and not the sinner’.  In a really nasty and challenging situation, it has no value.

We have seen the elaborate description and depiction of Goddess Kali and Durga equipped with large number of weapons. Durga is also known as Dasha-prahara-dharini. Goddess Durga is always ready with ten weapons at all her ten hands apart from riding a tiger, a ferocious animal.

Today Bharat is surrounded and infested by forces such as jihadi, leftist, communist, churches etc. Danger is not just from across the borders alone. But we have incrementally active destructive forces from within.  The threat is too big to ignore.

We have very little or no option but to follow the path of Shri Rama and Shri Krishna.
