Anatomical status of the
pelvic
According to the modern anatomy, pelvis is the large bony frame at the base of the spine to which
lower and hind limbs are attached. This
area is called pelvic or pelvic region.
Pelvic floor is the muscular base of the abdomen attached to the pelvis.
Pelvic girdle is the enclosing structure formed by the pelvis which includes
the lower vertebrates.
Yogic terms for pelvic
region
There is no specific term used in Yoga denote this region.
However, in Sanskrit, the frontal
lower abdominal region is called as ‘Jaghana’. The hind part of the Jaghana is called ‘Trika’
in Ayurveda where the tail part of the spine ends above the anus.
In Hathayoga literature, the anatomical parts specifically mentioned
which lie in the pelvic region are— Mula (anus), Yoni (perineum), Linga
(generative organ) and Nabhi (navel).
Cakras located in this region are--
Muladhara Cakra at the anus
and Svadhisthana Cakra at the navel
region.
